Bahawalpur: International Women’s Day was celebrated at Beaconhouse Bahawalpur with the theme “Be Bold to Change” on March 8, 2017. Celebrations of the day began with a remarkably inspiring morning assembly, starting out with a speech from Ammara Malik from Class VIII-M about exceptional ladies from all over the world who changed the course of history. Amna Khalid and Aqsa Ismail from Class VIII-C performed on Maya Angelou’s poem “Women’s Work”. Students of Class VIII-M shared their pledges to break the stereotypes about women and prove themselves strong enough to make a difference.

At the end of the assembly, students presented chocolates and flowers to the female staff members in order to show their respect for them. Students prepared cards, participated in group discussions, painting, souvenir-making, researched local inspirational women and recorded video messages to support a gender-balanced society. The day ended with a promise to empower women to build a stronger foundation of our society.
